At Clark’s Self Defense, our policies are designed to create a safe, respectful, and effective training environment for all students. By enrolling in our programs, students and families agree to follow the policies outlined below.


Enrollment & Membership Policy


Enrollment at Clark’s Self Defense is ongoing and subject to availability and instructor approval. Program details, schedules, and tuition are explained prior to enrollment. Memberships are non-transferable and apply only to the enrolled student.

Students are encouraged to attend classes regularly to achieve the best results.


Tuition & Payment Policy


  • Tuition is due on the 1st day of each month or according to the agreed-upon payment schedule at the time of enrollment.
  • Payments are processed automatically unless otherwise arranged.
  • Missed classes do not result in refunds or credits.
  • Tuition is based on enrollment, not attendance.

Cancellation & Membership Changes


  • Written notice is required for any membership cancellation or change.
  • Cancellation requests must be made no less than 10 days prior to due date for all automatic payments.
  • Verbal cancellations are not accepted.

Please contact Clark’s Self Defense in advance if you need to discuss membership options.


Class Attendance & Scheduling


  • Students are encouraged to arrive on time and prepared for class.
  • Late arrivals may be asked to wait until the appropriate time to join the class.
  • Class schedules are subject to change due to holidays, special events, or instructor availability.

Any schedule changes will be communicated in advance whenever possible.


Safety & Conduct Policy


Safety is our top priority.

All students must:

  • Follow instructor guidance at all times
  • Use techniques responsibly and with control
  • Show respect to instructors, staff, and fellow students

Unsafe behavior, disrespect, or repeated disruptions may result in removal from class or further disciplinary action.


Uniform & Equipment Policy


  • Students are expected to wear the appropriate uniform for their program to each class once enrolled.
  • Uniforms and training equipment must be kept clean and in good condition.
  • For trial classes, comfortable workout clothing is acceptable unless otherwise instructed.


Health & Hygiene Policy


To maintain a safe and clean training environment:

  • Students should attend all classes clean and well-groomed
  • Fingernails and toenails should be trimmed
  • Students who are ill or injured should not attend class

Please notify instructors of any medical conditions that may affect your training.


Photography & Media Policy


Clark’s Self Defense may occasionally take photos or videos during classes or events for promotional purposes. These may be used on our website, social media, or marketing materials.

If you prefer not to be included, please notify our staff in writing.


Weather & Emergency Closures


In the event of severe weather or emergencies affecting the Sarasota area, classes may be canceled for safety reasons. Notifications will be provided through text and/or email.  Make sure to provide correct contact information to receive these notifications.  Failure to provide contact information will result in missed notifications.


Respectful Environment Policy


Clark’s Self Defense is committed to providing a welcoming environment for all students. Harassment, bullying, or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.

We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue service to anyone who does not follow school policies or disrupts the learning environment.

Policies may be updated as needed to improve safety, operations, or student experience. The most current version will always be available on our website.

After-School Program Policies


After-School Enrollment & Attendance


Enrollment in the Clark’s Self Defense After-School Program is limited and based on availability. Consistent attendance and class participation is expected to ensure program effectiveness.

Parents or guardians are responsible for notifying Clark's Self Defense in advance if a student will be absent.


School Pickup & Transportation


Clark’s Self Defense provides after-school pickup only from approved schools and according to the agreed schedule.

  • Students must be released by their school on time
  • Clark’s Self Defense is not responsible for delays caused by school dismissal issues
  • Any changes to pickup arrangements must be communicated in advance, preferably via text


Late Pickup Policy


Timely pickup is essential for student safety.

  • Students must be picked up by 6:00pm
  • Repeated late pickups may result in additional fees or program removal


Snacks & Nutrition


Students are encouraged to bring their own snacks each day.  Occasionally a snack may be provided by our staff members during the after-school program.

  • Parents must disclose all food allergies in writing
  • Snacks brought from home should be healthy and peanut-free whenever possible
  • Kids are discouraged from sharing snacks with other students


Behavior Expectations



Students in the after-school program are expected to:

  • Follow instructor and staff directions
  • Attend martial arts classes during the after-school program
  • Treat others with kindness and respect
  • Use martial arts skills responsibly

Ongoing behavioral issues may result in disciplinary action or dismissal from the program.


Summer Camp Policies


Summer Camp Registration

Summer camp enrollment requires advance registration and payment. Space is very limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  All students are required to enroll using our on-line registration.  Verbal, text or any other type of registration will not be accepted.

Camp schedules, activities, and age requirements will be provided prior to the start of each camp session.


Daily Drop-Off & Pickup

Parents or guardians must sign students in and out each day.

  • Camp hours are 9:00am - 3:00pm.  Drop-off and pickup times must be followed.
  • Early drop-off or late pickup will result in additional fees.


What to Bring to Summer Camp

Students should bring:

  • Comfortable clothing suitable for martial arts and activities
  • Bathing suit and a towel
  • Change of clothing
  • A water bottle
  • Healthy lunch and a few snacks

Personal items should be clearly labeled. Clark’s Self Defense is not responsible for lost or damaged items.


Health, Safety & Supervision

Student safety is our top priority during summer camps.

  • All activities are supervised by trained staff
  • Parents must inform Clark's Self Defense of any medical conditions or special needs
  • Students who are sick should not attend camp


Camp Behavior Policy

Summer camp participants are expected to follow all camp rules and staff instructions.

Unsafe behavior, bullying, or repeated disruptions may result in removal from camp without refund.


Camp Cancellation & Refund Policy

Summer camp fees are non-refundable unless otherwise stated in writing.

In the event Clark’s Self Defense must cancel a camp session, credit or alternative arrangements will be provided.
